2024-25 Status Report on Nevada Career Institute Campus Programs, Costs, Accreditations and Licensure

Greetings. My name is Professor Ron, .PhD., graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, and a California State University Los Angeles alumnus.

I have personal knowledge of the facts and statements in this report, and could testify to the same if required to do so in a court of law.

This report concerns the status of the Pharmacy Technician Licensure status of Nevada Career Institute.

Upon requests by several members of the public, and prospective Nevada Career Institute Pharmacy Technician students, and upon review of the meeting minutes of the Commission on Post-Secondary Commission of Nevada, our team initiated an inquiry into the legitimacy of the request by Nevada Career Institute to also offer Pharmacy Technician programs.

Nevada Career Institute campus does not offer 4-year Pharmacy Degrees. Nevada Career Institute does not offer any Doctor of Pharmacy degrees, or any type of legitmate degree leading to becoming a fully licensed Pharmacist to work at Walgreen or CVS, etc dispensing medicine or pills.

What Nevada Career Institute campus is offering, however, is the opporturnity to become a Pharmacy technician; a person that sweeps the floors, picks-up trash or debris, or handles mundane tasks or orders given by a real Pharmacist.

Status Report: Unaccredited Nevada Career Institute Pharmacy Technician Programs

I had the privilege of speaking with Autumn Gordon, Customer Service, of Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and was advised that Nevada Career Institute has not fully met the requirements of licensure of its Pharmacy Technician programs as of May 1st, 2021.

Upon asking about the qualifications of Ms. Gordon, her official title, and length of employment ( 5 years), Ms. Gordon volunteered said information and I was comfortable with the answers provided regarding Nevada Career Institute.

In addition, I also spoke with Ms. Toiya Hargrow, Accreditation Program Coordinator at Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. I was informed by Ms. Toiya Hargrow that the facts provided by Ms. Gordon regarding the non-licensure Pharmacy program at Nevada Career Institute were indeed accurate.

Nevada Career Institute is luring students to its Pharmacy Program under the umbrella of "Candidacy status." This is pending status routinely given to any program, legitimate or illegitimate, until the school has graduated its first class of students.

Given the generally low I.Q. level of the typical Nevada Career Institute Campus student, it is more than likely that few of these students performed any meaningful due dilegence on the legitimacy of Nevada Career Institute Pharmacy Programs.

Where to File Objections to Pharmacy Technician Applications by For-Profit Colleges

Any member of the public may file written objections to pending Pharmacy Technician applications. Grounds for objections range from making materially false statements on any licensure application; being unqualified to seek licensure; using a facility with unsterilized components; using unqualified or incompetent instructors; failing to make appropriate provisions in the event that school is abruptly shut down by a government agency; failing to disclose pending litigation; or, if owner engages in immoral conduct not benefitting licensure approval, etc.

To object to pending Candidacy licensures, members of the public may voice their objection to Lisa Lifshin, Director of Residency Programs; email: llifshin@ashp.org; Phone number: 301-664-8835;
