Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams

Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams

Hello. My name is Thomas, a/k/a/ Big T. This Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams report was authored by myself. I am a local auto mechanic with over 25 years in auto repairs. I also own a 1954 Chevy. I did 10 years in state prison (California Institution for Men) for auto-theft, and auto-body repair crimes. I am now retired. but I offer free advice to help consumers avoid scams.

My auto repair skills include a review and diagnosis of Low-riders (post 1960) and 'Bombs' (pre-1960). As you can tell, I also attend Las Vegas Car shows. I am also a member of a local Las Vegas Car club.

My concentration is American classic cars, and American cars built after 1980. My services include Brakes; Rotors;Oil Change;Timing Belt;Valve cover gaskets; O2 sensors; Alternator repair or replacement; Radiator repair and replacement; Fuel pump; Four-barrel Quadrajet carburetors produced by General Motors from 1965 to 1990; Electrical wiring, and more!

An honest mechanic always provides a written estimate before any work is commenced.

Recently, I developed a passion for writing. Why? Auto-scams are too prevalent in Las Vegas, NV, and California, and elsewhere.

Craigslist (stylized as craigslist) is a privately-held American company operating a classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums.

Craig Newmark began the service in 1995 as an email distribution list to friends, featuring local events in the San Francisco Bay Area. It became a web-based service in 1996 and expanded into other classified categories. It started expanding to other U.S. and Canadian cities in 2000 and now covers 70 countries.

Although Craigslist has many competitors, a substantial volume of Las Vegas residents use the local Las Vegas Craigslist to search for auto repair shops, mobile auto mechanics, and automotive services in general.

The service is free. There is very little, if any oversight, othan Flagging an article or post. By flagging the article or post, it simply remains Ʋhidden" from your broswer, but other consumers are still being affected by the same alleged misrpresentation or fraud. Essentially, flagging a scam post on Las Vegas Craigslist does absolutely nothing.

Many Las Vegas, NV consumers and readers rely upon Nevada Career Institute News for uncensored reporting, hard-hitting news, and dogged pursuit of crooked politicians (e.g., former Las Vegas, NV stripper turned CCSD Board Trustee Danielle Ford; Prostitute Judge Danielle Chio, and many others).

Nevada Career Institute News has also taken over the tradename Nevada Career Institute from businessman Mitchell Fuerst who founded SOUTHWEST COLLEGE OF MEDICAL-DENTAL ASSISTANTS & PRACTICAL NURSES, INC,

Nevada Career Institute News, through their Las Vegas Consumer Reports, pursues, reports, and may aid in the prosecution of auto-mechanics who use Las Vegas Craigslist to scam automotive consumers.

We urge consumers and bad mechanics to use the Nevada Career Institute online career advancement programs to advance their careers. There is no need to scam persons! I signed up for a Nevada Career Institute online course advertised on this very same website.

6 (six) Common Auto Repair Scams: The Most Lucrative Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams

Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams

What are the best and most lucrative Las Vegas Craigslist Auto Repair Scams? First, and foremost, this article does not endorse illegal activity. What this article is attempting to do is to expose the fact that Craigslist is not policing auto repair scams; and what scams yield the most money.

Women and men who are not familiar with automobiles and how automobiles functions are most vulnerable to auto mobile repair scams. For example, let's consider a true life story.

I visited an auto mobile repair shop in North Las Vegas, NV to check on my wheels being aligned. I overhead a conversation involving an older Black woman and a mechanic. The woman brought her car into the shop because the car had spurts of not going into reverse.

The mechanic explained to the woman that she needed to perform a ൔ Point Inspection", and to start by getting her oil changed.

I heard a scam taking place, but I kept quiet.

I heard the mechanic discuss everything except what he should have focused on: Checking Transmission Fluid; and reviewing the shifting of all transmission gears. In other words, the mechanic did not get straight to the root issue.

When the woman was leaving to get into another car (she left her main car at the auto repair shop), I asked her "What church she went to went to?" I wanted to test her faith in God. She ignored me! God protect the Believers in Him!

"Bad mechanics want to "Fix" issues that do not need "Fixing". The goal is to drain 80% of your money, and then the final 20% they get by scaring you that the real issue is ABC. The final 20% is your real problem, but the scam mechanic wanted to steal 80% of your money first until he finally reveals the real issue. This is called the 80/20 Rule in Auto-Repair Theft! Steal 80% first, and the final 20% is guaranteed! Easy money! "

"Testing the consumer for knowledge. Let the consumer explain the problem in his/her own words. Listen carefully for auto repair knowledge. For example, if the consumer complains of a radiator leak. Does the consumer know what hoses are connected to to the Radiator (Upper ansd lower radiator hose)? Did the consumer first volunteer his/her diagnosis? If not, the skilled mobile auto mechanic scammer will offer a fake diagnoses and generate an inflated bill. This procedure is known as the F& D Rule of Auto Scams. Fake Diagnois! "

"Inflated Prices. This is scam typically practiced by Franchised physical auto repair shops. Franchise shops are more prime to scams because they must generate enough income to be active licensees of the trademark. For example, let's say your car needs a part that the shop does not have. The shop owner will quote you a price for the part. Always get the part number. Visit a reputable automobile parts supplier like AutoZone or NAPA and use the same part number to dtermine if you are being over-charged by 200% or more. This sort of scam is really easy to uncover. It is the Inflated Price scam. Only unsophisticated scammers use this sort of scam."

"The B&S auto repair scam. Criminals refer to this as the Bull-Shit Scam. Lawyers and proecutors call it the Bait & Switch. The B&S auto repair scam is a derivative of the 80/20 Rule in Auto-Repair Theft! This scam works beautifully when the consumer calls for help or reponds to ANY Las Vegas Craigslist list ad. The aim is to seduce the consumer to calling by using a 'hook'. The 'hook' could be a really low price, or the 'hook' could be a misrepresentation of an ad. Whatever the 'hook' is, criminals call it the 'Bait'. For example, the consumer was 'baited' with a low prices to fix the brake pads for $39.99 when in reality that price did not include any labor. "

"One of the most scams in auto repairs. is the R&R scams. Repeat-Repeat Auto Repairs. In the crime world of auto-repair scams, R&R scams are very common and quite lucrative. The slick auto mechanic uses your car as an indentured servant as you pay the bills. For example, let's say your car needs a tune-up and new spark plugs. The bad mechanic will not adjust your distributer to the correct angle, or proper;y gap your psark-plugs. If you have a classic car, did he/she make sure all the vacuum lines are properly re-positioned with the air cleaner. The bad automobile mechanic will consistently leave problems unresolved, or will deliberately use cheap parts that are only a temporary fix. "

"Evasion: Beware of any auto mechanic driving to your home or office and he does not even have a license on their car!! He is setting you you up for evasion!! Taking your cash, leaving you dry and scammed, and no where to find him! He has black your number! This is called The Ghosting & Evasion Rule of Auto-Theft scams. Drive a run down truck, and look poor when in fact you have thousands of dollars in cash you have scamed from customers. "
